Samsung Galaxy Tab S LTE models go up for pre-order on AT&T
Alexandra BurlacuAT&T just announced that it is ready to accept pre-orders for the LTE-enabled versions of the 8.4- and 10.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S.
This news may seem a bit surprising to some, considering that Samsung released its Galaxy Tab S a good while ago, but the models that have so far been available are Wi-Fi-only. AT&T wants to give its customers the chance to get a Galaxy Tab S with LTE connectivity, and allows them to choose between the 8.4-inch model and the larger 10.5-inch variant.
Pre-orders for both models kicked off on Wednesday, Sept. 17, and shipping is set to start "around" Sept. 23. Full-retail sales, meanwhile, will go live on Sept. 26, both online and at AT&T stores.
The Galaxy Tab S tablets made their debut back in June and still represent Samsung's high-profile offerings in this department, boasting top-notch hardware and features. Samsung claimed at the time that its Galaxy Tab S is the slimmest Android tablet at just 6.6mm-thick, but other slates launched in the meantime to claim the title. The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, for instance, measures 6.4 mm in thickness, while the new Dell Venue 8 7000 sports an ultra-thin 6.0mm profile.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab S has plenty of oomph on its side. The Super AMOLED display is just one of the highlights, but the tablet line also packs a beefy Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor, a hefty 3GB of RAM, and lots of software goodness such as multiple user accounts. Moreover, the Galaxy Tab S also aims to boost security with its fingerprint reader, which is not that common for tablets.
The 10.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S LTE comes in Charcoal Gray and is available for $31.50 per month for 20 months, a hefty $529 on a two-year contract, or $629 without.
The smaller 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab S LTE comes in the same Charcoal Gray shade and costs $26.50 per month for 20 months, $429 on a two-year contract, and $529 without.
Lastly, interested customers who place an order on Wednesday, Sept. 17, will also be able to take advantage of a 50 percent discount on the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy Tab S accessory, but the offer is only valid while supplies last. For more details, check out AT&T's press release at this link.
