HTC One M9 64GB variant confirmed in Taiwan – Launch & pricing details
Alexandra BurlacuHTC has officially confirmed the existence of a 64GB version of its new One M9 flagship, but it seems the higher-capacity model may be limited to Taiwan.
The new-generation HTC One M9 made its official debut back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 earlier this month, and many were surprised to see only one configuration with 32GB of internal storage capacity. On the same day, Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy S6 flagship in three models - 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the HTC One M9 has microSD support for additional storage of up to 128GB, whereas the Galaxy S6 does not support expandable storage.
During a new event in its home country of Taiwan, HTC announced the commercial launch of the One M9 and confirmed that a higher-capacity 64GB model will also be available. Both variants will hit retail next week, on March 16.
It remains unclear at this point just when exactly the HTC One M9 will hit commercial availability in other regions, or whether the 64GB model will also be available outside Taiwan.
For now, Taiwanese website ePrice lists the HTC One M9 in both versions set to launch on March 16, and also offers pricing details for both models. The 32GB HTC One M9 will apparently cost 21,900 TWD, which would translate to roughly $693, while the 64GB variant will cost 23,900 TWD, which would amount to about $756.
As a reminder, the HTC One M9 flagship sports a 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage capacity, microSD card support for additional memory, a 20-megapixel rear camera, an UltraPixel front shooter, and a 2,840 mAh battery. The handset ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop and HTC Sense 7.0 on board out of the box.
HTC has yet to announce specific launch dates for the HTC One M9 in other parts of the world, but is expected to provide more details shortly. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
