Verizon Nexus 6 finally available for purchase – Pricing & Options
Alexandra BurlacuThe Motorola-made Google Nexus 6 finally made its debut on Verizon Wireless in the U.S., after an extensive delay.
Google unveiled its new-generation Nexus 6 smartphone made in collaboration with Motorola back in mid-October as one of the launch vehicles for Android 5.0 Lollipop, and the handset has already been available for purchase for a good while now. Despite facing some limited supply due to high demand, the Nexus 6 is available from several carriers, as well as Google and Motorola.
The Nexus 6 comes as the very first phablet in the Nexus lineup, and boasts high-end specs and features all around, in addition to the much-touted Nexus experience that guarantees timely updates as soon as a new version of Android rolls out. Compared to its predecessors, however, the Nexus 6 comes with a higher price tag. Nevertheless, its high-end specs convinced many to purchase the device.
Upon its debut, all four major U.S. carriers said they would offer the smartphone, and all of them complied. While other carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile launched the Nexus 6 back in November on their networks, however, Verizon Wireless was late as usual. After months of not breathing a word as to when it plans to finally start offering the Nexus 6, Verizon recently started taking pre-orders for the handset. In fact, customers who pre-ordered the Verizon Nexus 6 last week should already have the device by now.
Big Red may be months late compared to other carriers, but the Verizon Nexus 6 is now finally available for purchase, both online and in physical retail locations. As previously rumored, Verizon is selling only the Midnight Blue Nexus 6 with 32GB of internal storage capacity.
When it comes to pricing, Verizon is offering the smartphone either for $249.99 when agreeing to sign a two-year contract, $27.08 per month on Verizon EGDE, or $649.99 outright, full retail price. Interested customers looking for the 64GB Cloud White version of the Nexus 6 can purchase it directly from Google and Motorola and activate it immediately, but that means paying the full retail price with no subsidies.
