Last week at the IFA 2015 event in Berlin, Asus took the stage to promote two of their new products: the ZenWatch 2 and the Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe. Releasing the exact same hardware with a few minor differences may be a risk in this smartphone saturated market but, Asus is confident that the Deluxe model would rake in profits. So how does it differ from the regular Zenfone 2?
Apart from the back exterior, which now has matte finish with an angular bumpy design, the dimensions on the Deluxe version remain the same. Asus is marketing this as the better looking and stylish Zenfone 2, but we would like to point out that this model packs an additional option for memory. The microSD card slot can accomodate up to 128 GB of memory and comes with 64/128 GB internal along with the standard 4 GB RAM. The special edition will give you up to 256GB of internal memory with the 4 GB RAM and will have an extra LTE Cat6 300/50 Mbps on its specs.
The current pricing on the Zenfone 2 Deluxe is at $350-$400 compared to the $300 off-contract price on the original device. It's a bargain that a few tech people would consider a fair price. Let's not forget that the Zenfone 2 already has great specs to begin with. Add a couple of extra memory and a slightly better and unique design and it becomes a good deal indeed.
