Virtual Reality, although far from perfect, is now within grasp. Yes, the all elusive dream you might have dreamt about while watching your favourite sci-fi movie is coming to reality. Techno firms have been trying to outdo one another with their versions of VR. And now one such version is making its way out into the public. This particular VR version will be well-received by the public, especially as it is a mixed experience of something familiar and new.

Early this March, YouTube's parent company, Google has already begun adding 360 degree videos and now the site can now fully support the VR videos. However, the virtual reality videos can only be played with select smartphones, one that is a Google Cardboard compatible. This would mean that it might not be able to play on HTC Vive or Oculus headsets that are not within the category. And if your phone is indeed compatible, they can just slip their smartphones in their cardboard headsets and enjoy the virtual reality content that is uploaded to the site.

Google also announced that they have updated Google Cardboard to now include "theatre mode." The mode enables the user to watch any YouTube video in a virtual theatre environment. How cool is that? Though it seems like a lot of people are clamouring for the release of every virtual products, it still is safe to say, for now, that the need for it is not that big. But with big firms like Google integrating it to one of the products that is well-known and used, like YouTube, it might have given it the much needed popularity that will convince people to give it a second glance.

Months ago, it is recalled that Samsung has also launched their VR headset Gear VR. And though nothing big has happened yet, the buzz has been going since then. In the meantime, we could only expect small releases of VR related products. Next year, however, might be different. We might or might not see the VR industry boom for real like how the computers, the laptop, the smartphones, the tablets, and etc. did several years ago.
