Leaks Shows Android Marshmallow Updates On Galaxy Phones
Mary Cris BalancioIt seems like an update is lurking around, just waiting for its launch date for Samsung's Galaxy smartphones. That is if the leaked roadmap is to be believed. While news or reports about the Galaxy phones being capable of receiving Android's Marshmallow has been heard and leaked earlier, the latest leaks shows an apparent schedule timeline for the rollout.
The internal document that was obtained and eventually shared by TimesNews shows that Samsung will make an update available in phases. For the first phase Samsung's high-end Galaxy smartphones like Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, and Galaxy Alpha will be included. The update has been approved for most of the devices on the list except for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Alpha which is still waiting to receive approval.
Meanwhile, the estimated time of arrival of Android Marshmallow rollout is set to start in December for Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ owners, while it will be in January 2016 for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users. For the rollout of Galaxy Note 4 and its curved screen variant Galaxy Note Edge the slated date is February 2016.
On the other hand, for some of the other Galaxy devices they are set to be on the rollout for the second phase. The second phase will include the Galaxy A and Galaxy E series including Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A8, Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7. All of the mentioned devices, according to the leaked roadmap, show that they are on queue waiting for approval for updates. There is also no mentioned target date of availability. The third phase of the rollout is set to only commence after the initial testing. The third rollout is said to include the rest of the Galaxy series not mentioned in the first and second phase.
