HTC To Release A New Phablet Flagship?

Mary Cris Balancio

HTC recently released a smartphone, but it seems that they are on a roll and ready to launch another device. According to reports, the Taiwanese smartphone maker will be launching a new phablet flagship in 2016 during the spring season.

The device is rumored to follow the steps of HTC's One A9 or M9 in terms of design and features. And although the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer has yet to officially announce or give hints about their supposedly next flagship phone, they have previously confirmed that with the success of their A9 models, they have plans to adopt its design language across their premium and Desire line ups.

But instead of following the M series and coming with the expected M10, the supposed next in the naming of models, the company is said to have decided to change their naming scheme.

The latest phablet from the Taiwanese manufacturer will be called HTC Perfume and will have a 6.0 inch, Quad HD 2560 x 1440 screen. It will be running Android Marshmallow 6.1 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. The device will be sporting a 20.7 MP primary camera and a front camera that is 5 MP. These specs are said to be the same as the supposed to HTC O2 model which was scrapped.

HTC's latest phablet will be powered by a 3,500 mAh battery and will be have a RAM of 4GB. It will also have the company's Sense 8.0 user interface and will have features like a heart rate sensor and a fingerprint scanning security for payment purposes.

So far, these details are yet to be confirmed and there might be only be 50% accurate. For one thing, the mentioned Android 6.1 Marshmallow OS has yet to be announced by its parent company, Google. The same thing goes with Sense 8.0 GP. Reports say that both these features will be revealed in time for the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain. The congress will be on Feb. 22 to 25, 2016.
