Apple is reportedly developing a new external 5k display that has a powerful GPU on its screen, according to ZDNet.

Furthermore, it was reported that only one GPU can be utilized at a time, either the built-in one or from the external display as part of the new OS X version requirement. Also, the display's panel will be equipped with the same Retina iMac that is expected to feature a similar DCI P3 color vibrancy.
The information with regards to how the Apple Display can be connected to the Mac remained unclear. A report suggested that the solution draws to connecting a USB-C port through a Thunderbolt 3 will work.
On the other hand, Apple will allegedly change the product name once it releases and will no longer have the "Thunderbolt" along with it. Although the company hasn't released official information on how the product's physical aspect will look like, consumers expect changes.
Apple was rumored to allegedly launch their external 5k display along with Mac's new software updates and redesigned MacBook Pro in fall.
