Nintendo NX Release Date: Console Transitions To Cartridges, Physical Media? 'Red Dead Redemption,' 'GTA' Developer Interested To Team Up
Krezna de los ReyesGamers have been anticipating the upcoming release date of the Nintendo NX console, while reports continue to immerge about what the console has to offer.
The company has been into different phases throughout the years -- from competing with smartphones in the industry to other console makers. Despite the battle in the market, they continue to grow their network in integrating a social system within their products.
Nintendo Accounts have been developed to allow users and players to manage their in-game purchases via their consoles. Meanwhile, the developers are on the experimenting process of integrating it into mobile platforms such as the recently debuted Miitomo.
Furthermore, the company's goal is to improve and enhance the main attributes composed Wii and Wii U.
During Nintendo's President Tatsumi Kimishima interview with Time magazine in 2015 he said, "As far as NX goes, I've said it's a different and obviously a new experience," reported by GottaBe Mobile.
"We talked about the transition from Wii hardware to Wii U hardware and how difficult it is to explain to the consumer base what is different and new about the new hardware," as it continued.
Prior to the release date of Nintendo NX, it was reported that it would have a physical media. The idea started when GameStop CEO Paul Raines addressed a question about the rumored device's transition from having optical discs to cartridges.
"It will have physical media, we will play a role in it, our pre-owned business will also play a role. So we're excited about that," said Raines according to IGN. However, GameStop also didn't release any further confirmation on whether it will support cartridges or not.
Meanwhile, game developer such as Ubisoft and Take-Two Interactive, which published popular games like "Red Dead Redemption" and "Grand Theft Auto," have also started to express their interest for the upcoming console, according to Game Rant.
As of the moment, fans have to wait until Nintendo announces in-depth information about the NX console before its confirmed release date in March 2017.
