"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" may have gotten mixed reviews from critics and fans alike, but publisher Electronic Arts confirmed that the reboot is "definitely meeting" their expectations.

Speaking to Gamesindustry.biz, Electronic Arts head of global publishing Laura Miele said that while "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is viewed as a "creative risk," the game has still managed to meet the company's sales expectations.

"We are pretty happy to bring this character and this world to market," Miele said. "It's a big open world game, so we made a lot of evolution from the original experience and we're very proud of that."

MCV UK reported that "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" ended up on the second spot of the best-selling retail games in the UK in its first week of release, behind Blizzard's popular shooter "Overwatch."

Despite meeting sales targets, "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" was met with mixed reviews, according to review score aggregator Metacritic. The disappointing scores were reportedly mostly from long-time fans of the game.

After reviewing the PC version of the game, IGN gave it a 6.8 out of 10, praising the game's fun parkour elements and user-made races, but criticized the combat and storyline.

Twinfinite, reviewing the Playstation 4 version, reported that the story is "bad and forgettable," which overshadowed the game's beautiful design and parkour mechanics.

The low scores, however, generally came from users who have expressed disappointment in the reboot.

It was not all negative points, though. On the other side of the spectrum, there were still a lot of people satisfied with their "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" experience.

In other news, Nvdia's in-game screenshot tool Ansel was incorporated in "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" to enable capture of some stunning shots from the game, according to Venturebeat.

The tool, which is aimed for "in-game photographers," allows games to be frozen at certain points so screenshots can be taken from any position, beating the usual "print screen" method by a long shot.

An Ansel update for "Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" will be rolled out later in the Summer.
