MacBook Air 2016 To Be Released In August?
Shilpa ChakravortyWith the success of Apple's 11-inch and 13-inch MacBooks, which were released last year, Apple is all set to deliver products with minor updates and a possibly more powerful central processing unit encased in lighter and thinner shells.
According to Techradar, some of the changes that might take place this year is the retirement of the 11-inch MacBook Air and the debut of a 15-inch model instead.
The publication has speculated that the 15-inch model, along with a new 13-inch variation will be announced by Apple in late August, and not during iPhone 7's launch in September.
Moreover, the latest models are rumored to come with new batteries, cooling systems, USB C port and Intel Skylake processors.
Thus, a slimmer, and lighter case for the next generation MacBook will definitely be an impressive feat for Apple. In addition, it is speculated that the latest MacBook Air will come with a TouchID fingerprint recognition and Retina display, along with an improved camera.
Unfortunately, the MacBooks will not contain any physical keyboard and only touchscreen keypads will be featured on the new devices. However, they will be accompanied by voice recognition system and Siri, the virtual assistant found in iPhones.
In other news, Xiaomi has planned to launch a similar Xiaomi Air version, which boasts of a Intel Core i7-6500U processor, clocking at 2.5GHz for its base speed, while turbo speed is pegged at 3.1GHz. Its thermal design power is rated at 15W, reported Benchlife.
The memory of Xiaomi Air is 8 GB and it will come with the Windows 10 operating system. It is also rumored that it may arrive with a Linux OS. A USB Type-C port is said to be coming with the lightweight laptop.
As for the price, it was predicted that the 13-inch Apple MacBook Air 2016 will cost $980, while the 15-inch version is said to cost about $1,120.
