'Pokémon GO' Release Date In China, Korea Delayed Because Of Google Maps, Servers? India Still In The Dark
C. de Lacy"Pokémon GO" had already been released in a number of Asian countries with some exceptions for China, Korea, and India. This leads to disappointed fans who still can't catch them all, let alone a single pokémon.
A number of countries in Asia already got the game released including Brunei, Solomon Islands, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Papua, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
According to what The Next Web reported, Niantic is already in the work in providing the service in the three countries and monitoring the crazy amount of activity on their servers due to the recent simultaneous release.
Niantic CEO John Hanke stated that releasing the games on those countries may not be as simple as it seems due to regulations, especially in China, and the limited information for Google Maps in South Korea.
"Pokémon GO" is still a no go. Other Asian countries' server capacity isn't up to the task yet and to avoid server overloading, Niantic instead decided to skip or further postpone the release.
While some countries didn't even get the chance to experience the game at all, Iran had got the release, but it was pulled by Niantic far too soon.
The Guardian reported that Iran banned "Pokémon GO" due to security concerns. The virtual reality technology needs special permissions that the ministry of culture denied.
According to the report, the game has the potential to pose a threat to the country's security hence the ban was passed. Officials, however, did say that the game can be allowed, but data transfers are going to be strictly monitored and prohibited to be just limited within the country and even excluding certain areas as well.
Sooner or later, "Pokémon GO" will be released worldwide and everybody will get to be the trainer they always wanted to be. The high reception shows how fans are dedicated and are willing to wait no matter how long it takes.
Stay tuned for more news and updates about "Pokémon GO."
