The Pirate Bay 13th Anniversary: The True King Of Torrents Will Never Die
C. de LacyWith the world's most popular and notorious torrent site The Pirate Bay turning 13, what can the community expect? The TPB team discussed how the site got to the pedestal where it is right now.
In a post by Ernesto of Torrent Freak, the site had a chance to chat with the people behind the world's biggest torrent site, possibly at par or better than Kickass, The Pirate Bay.
The Pirate Bay was originally founded in 2003 by Swedish community called Piratbyrån (Piracy Bureau). Ironically, the site's purposes was to make way for people to share files in the network in Sweden and nobody knew that it would grow into a global scale that is The Pirate Bay now.
As we've covered the facts already, The Pirate Bay had been bombarded before by several legal actions and criminal convictions, but none of these put the site down for good. Especially after being taken down in 2006 and just springing back to action shortly becoming even stronger.
A lot of big torrent sites are recently taken down including the equally popular Kickass and then it was followed by Torrentz. Regular users from those sites have already turned to The Pirate Bay, proving it to be the true king of file-sharing community.
"TPB is as important today as it was yesterday, and its role in being the galaxy's most resilient torrent site will continue for the foreseeable future," Spud17 told TorrentFreak.
"Sure, TPB has its flaws and glitches but it's still the go-to site for all our media needs, and I can see TPB still being around in 20 or 30 years time, even if the technology changes," she added.
The Pirate Bay may lack the user friendliness that other sites, particularly Kickass, had to offer, but the site's toughness to such situations more important than anything according to Xe of TPB.
With The Pirate Bay being the top site, other torrent sites like ExtraTorrent and popular YTS.AG for high-quality movies follow. Hopefully, these sites won't go down anytime soon like how The Pirate Bay stands proud and strong.
