'Pokémon GO' News: Gen 2 Update To Revive Dying Mobile Game? Trading, Buddy System Rumored To Be Out This Month
Jazz RosinAfter less than two months, people seem to slowly lose interest in the augmented reality mobile game "Pokémon GO."
After taking the world by storm during its launch in July, it looks like the "Pokémon GO" fad is already going away, with more people leaving the game losing interest in tthe game and augmented reality in general, Bloomberg reported.
While this could be attributed to the rise and fall of internet fads, as The Washington Post reported, fans know the main reason for this decline: the lack of solid updates from Niantic Labs.
The developers of "Pokémon GO" has promised to bring tons of major updates to the game, such as the trading system and special events involving the Legendary Pokémon, similar to the events on their other game "Ingress."
Fans have not heard about any updates since then, with players getting only a few minor tweaks here and there. Players who are familiar with other mobile game mechanics are waiting for special events to happen in the game, like weekly events to keep the game exciting.
Now since most fans have reached the "end-game," with a few already filling the few empty spots in their Pokédex, there isn't much new to do in "Pokémon GO" anymore.
However, there is still a possibility that the interest will go up again, if only Niantic plans to bring more Pokémon to the game. If the devs want to bring people back to playing the game again, then a major update is needed.
Rumors of a new Buddy System has also been circulating, which stemmed from a code datamined from the "Pokémon GO" servers, which was discovered by AeonLucid on Github, according to Pokémon Go Hub.
There are also speculations that Niantic is gearing up for a big update in September, including the much awaited trading system, although there is no word from Niantic themselves. If they want to revive the game, however, the updates must go out as soon as possible.
Stay tuned for more "Pokémon GO" news.
