'The Last Of Us 2': Don't Expect The Game To Be Released in 2017 Or Anytime Soon
Jazz RosinThere are so many rumors and speculations circulating around the highly anticipated sequel to the post-apocalyptic zombie title "The Last of Us." Fans should not even be expecting the game to be out next year, or anytime soon, for that matter.
"The Last of Us 2" is probably the most requested sequel ever, and probably as highly anticipated as the currently mythical "Red Dead Redemption 2." All things considered, it looks like waiting for a game that's not even in development yet is becoming a trend nowadays.
As of the moment, there is no indication that Naughty Dog is even working on "The Last of Us 2." Sure, there may be some hints that a sequel is coming, but that does not mean a release date will be revealed soon, so fans should know better than to get its hopes up.
If it makes the fans feel better, however, Naughty Dog is actually considering a sequel for Ellie and Joel's journey through the post-apocalyptic world of "The Last of Us." Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on your point of view,) Nathan Drake is Naughty Dog's priority at the moment.
"Without going into specific genres [there were] ideas outside the 'The Last of Us'," Naughty Dog's creative director Neil Druckmann told Gamerant. "All those things were left on hold when we had to come onto 'Uncharted 4' to direct the project."
Speaking to 89.3 KPCC's The Frame, Druckmann said that it took three and a half years for "The Last of Us" to be finished. With "Uncharted 4"'s single-player DLC a priority at this point, it would be more realistic to hold on to a 2021 release date for "The Last of Us 2," or at least new information around 2018.
"The Last of Us 2" is definitely happening, and we will eventually find out what happened to Ellie and Joel soon. Still, let's all be realistic and accept the fact that it is not happening soon. In the meantime, have a look at what we want to see in the next installment.
