Apple Releases iOS 10.0.1 Update: Bad News For The Jailbreak Community
C. de LacyIt was hardly a month for the iOS 10 release and Apple already patched it to 10.0.1. Should users upgrade to it or does this mean bad news for the jailbreak progress many have been waiting for?
Apple is now rolling out the new update and this would be applicable models starting with the iPhone 5 and the iPad 2. The upgrade should have already notified users that are online, but this can be done manually by going to the Settings section of the device.
The bigger question here is, would this stunt the progress of the jailbreak tool that Pangu is supposedly working on right now?
While there isn't any statement regarding the iOS 10 jailbreak tool progress from Pangu, it could be remembered that the group has already jailbroken the beta 8 version of iOS 10 before.
While the 10.0.1 iOS update brings minor changes to the system, it may or may not be disclosed that this closes any opening for Jailbreak tools to exploit.
Pangu's unreleased Jailbreak tool for iOS 10 with Cydia working is unlikely to be released anytime soon as the next major iOS update, namely 10.1 is expected to be coming out around October. It would only be logical that the team working will wait at least until November, which pushes back its eventual release.
Users are highly advised not to update to the latest iOS 10.0.1 and wait for Pangu's update instead. The iOS 10 jailbreak tool may be released anytime soon.
For those who aren't bothered waiting for an iOS 10.0.1 or iOS 10.1 jailbreak tool, the update simply includes the following changes:
- Fixes an issue preventing the recognition of "Hey Siri" requests
- Fixes issues that affects audio quality for calls made over VoLTE
- Fixes issues that impacts Bluetooth connectivity and Apple Watch pairing
- Improves stability of the Camera and Contacts apps
