Galaxy Note 7 Recall: How To Get Your Samsung Phone Checked
C. de LacyWith the recent trend of the Galaxy Note 7s having a bad habit of catching fire and bursting into flames, Samsung is finally pulling the "safety" plug.
After all the efforts going into making the Galaxy Note 7 safer for consumers, Samsung finally decided that it was time to put an end to the trouble that the particular handset was causing. The company communicated to all its partners asking to stop selling "all" versions of the phone.
The Verge also got an email directly from Samsung, stating that every single carrier and retail partner worldwide will have to stop sales and even exchanges of the Galaxy Note 7. Those who still have the handset are highly advised to return their phones for a refund.
The Korean tech giant had to resort to this solution, following the ever increasing number of instances of the Galaxy Note 7 catching fire. The past week, there had been five replacements reported and this was only from the United States alone.
Initially, the word "recall" was avoided by Samsung, and hence, only the original Note 7 was tagged as "recalled." The end result, however, is no different and consumers are better off opting for a refund instead of a replacement.
Still, those who would opt for a replacement can get the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge instead along with the price difference refunded. To the consumers considering this option, a $25 gift card in-store accessory credit will also be given.
For those who would like to inquire with Samsung directly regarding the situation, they can be contacted at 1-844-365-6197. For a complete list of carriers, which can also be contacted regarding the return or refund, simply go to this page.
There's no telling what Samsung's next step would be for this particular model, but for now, it would be best for everybody who has the phone to power it down and have them returned for safety.
Stay tuned for updates and news on Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
