Apple iPad Mini rumor mill is in action since last year. But it looks that the fiction device could come to reality as Apple has reportedly placed order for the 7-inch tablet, along with its sixth generation iPhone, dubbed iPhone 5.
Citing inner sources within Apple supply chain, DigiTimes reported that Pegatron has received order for iPhone 5 and the device is slated for September launch. Pegatron is an alternate assembly partner to Foxconn for a number of Apple products. The Taiwan based supply chain currently manufactures iPhone 4S and the new iPad.
The publication also reports that a new standard sized iPad is also on the way. The 10-inch iPad will debut later this year. The current 9.7-inch iPad has just received an update in March with high resolution Retina display and 4G LTE connectivity. Apple launch behavior indicates that each new iGadget lasts minimum one year as a flagship model. So a new flagship iPad in 2012 looks unlikely. Also, DigiTimes isn't considered as a reliable source when it comes to Apple products. It has a kind of hit-or-miss record with Apple. However, we cannot take it lightly too.
Reportedly, Apple is also updating its second generation iPad with a new processor, offering battery performance boost up to 30 percent. The Cupertino tech giant has never modded any of its existing iGadget. Apple is trying new things and a new full-sized iPad could be among its plans.
Earlier this week, we also reported that Apple might have settled for a second grade tablet in case of the new iPad. Now it could be time for the original plans to come into actions. This might also be reason that why Apple named its latest iPad as "new iPad", instead of iPad 3.
In addition the report also claims that Foxconn has landed orders for the much-rumored iPad Mini, which will be released in August. Apple iPad Mini is expected to feature 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 X 768 pixels, which is same as iPad 2, allowing old apps to run on the new tablet without any major design change.
