Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Update: 'Mass Effect,' More 'Call Of Duty' To Be Added? Huge Nov. 12 Reveal Teased
J RoseLarry "Major Nelson" Hryb has just teased that a huge announcement regarding Xbox One backwards compatibility that will be made sometime this month.
Speaking about the future of the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program at PAX AUS 2016, Major Nelson revealed that something big will be announced during the program's first anniversary, which will happen on Nov. 12, according to Finder.com.au.
Hryb also expressed his love for Rockstar Games' "Red Dead Redemption," and said that he was happy that the classic Western-themed action game is finally playable on the Xbox One.
The director of Xbox Live programming did not reveal any more details about the upcoming announcement, but some speculated that Xbox One users will finally be able to play one or more of their most requested games, including the "Mass Effect" games and more "Call of Duty" titles.
Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer has stated on Twitter that November is going to be a great month for backwards compatibility, having received the list of releases planned for that month. The director said that some of the "top fan requests" will finally be made available.
As of the moment, "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" continues to secure its number one spot, garnering over 190,000 votes. Other "Call of Duty" titles include the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" series.
Other games occupying the rest of the top ten slots are "Mass Effect 2 & 3," "Grand Theft Auto IV," "Batman: Arkham City" and "Bioshock Infinite".
This month, Microsoft has added two new games to the growing Xbox One backwards compatiblity list. Classic Role-playing game "Blue Dragon" has made its way to the list on the first day of November, while critically acclaimed puzzle-platform video game "Limbo" was added to the list yesterday.
