Google is known for launching a smartphone with the latest Android OS. But 2016 has seen a self-branded Google phones with a lot of new technology. Previously launched Nexus 5X and nexus 6P from Google has suffered a setback with Android Nougat updates. Let's find out.
Google rolled the Android Nougat update for its Nexus 5X and 6P but some features were missing if compared to Pixel phones like fancy night mode and fingerprint gestures.
During the beta test for Nougat, many of them submitted this omission as a bug, saying that night mode is nowhere to be found in the settings menu.
It's been reported that the Nexus 5X and 6P lacks the driver required for night mode.
Google might not upset its users and it is indicative that the night mode feature will return to the Nexus 5X and 6P, perhaps via a software update.
The night mode feature dims the screen with a red tint during certain times of the day, particularly at evening, to reduce blue light, which has been proven to disrupt healthy sleeping patterns upon prolonged exposure.
It seems, Google has smartly played a marketing tactic. People can get the best, full-fledged Nougat experience only on the Pixel phones, and that other smartphones will have, by some measure, a reduced and inferior build.
Luckily, Google has started the Android 7.1 beta programme, bringing Daydream VR support and other goodies to devices prior to full release and that started on 19 October. The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P can all get access to Android 7.1 now.
Though, it's not sure but Android 7.1 will likely bring a slew of new features for all the Google branded smartphones including the anticipated Night Mode. We'll find out if it does once Android 7.1 officially arrives on the Nexus 5X and 6P.
Stay tuned for release date updates.
