Is The MacBook Air 2016 Dead Along With Other Air Line-Up? Laptop No Longer Fit For Apple's Vision?
Kirsten KaneThe MacBook Air 2016 got a minor update in April this year, which made fans disappointed as it only includes an optional RAM upgrade for the 13-inch variant.
Also, the highly anticipated device was expected to come out last October 2016 during the Apple's annual even. However, the company failed to announce the MacBook Air 2016 as it focused more on its new MacBook Pro.
According to Macworld, the Air lineup might be completely discontinued indicating "that the entry level MacBooks are now a little more appealing, but does mean that a 11in MacBook Air will now be missed by some who were hoping for it to be replaced by a similar variant - Apple may didn't see a huge market for 11in laptops and thus decided to axe the product line."
"However, the 11in may not be the only MacBook Air to be discontinued. We think that Apple is about to discontinue the MacBook Air line altogether," the source added.
Rumors are rife that MacBook Air does not anymore fit in Apple's line-up since there is the latest MacBook that features high-end specs and is slimmer and lighter than the previous models.
However, there were reports suggesting that the MacBook Air 2016 will be launched early next year sporting revolutionary specs and features. Speculations have it that the new Apple device will be the most affordable Mac laptop.
Moreover, the device is expected to have Apple's virtual personal assistant Siri and E-Ink keyboard. It is likely to sport a Retina display and might be powered by Intel Kaby Lake processor and ARM chips.
Another feature that is expected in the upcoming MacBook Air 2016 is the Touch ID along with Force Touch upgrade. The device is said to pack a 12.5 hours battery life which is way better than its predecessor.
The most-awaited Mac laptop is also said to sport an upgraded Apple Pencil-enabled Trackpad; USB Type-C ports, a thunderbolt 3 and SD card slot.
Apple is yet to give their official statement regarding the MacBook Air 2016.
