Steam Holiday Sale 2016: Leaks Tease Massive Deals & Discounts This December
GramAfter the conclusion of the recent Steam Autumn Sale 2016, PC players are once again bracing themselves for the next sale, the Steam Winter Sale 2016. Yes, our wallets are still hurting from the recent sale, but Steam can't afford to be stopped from whipping out its irresistible discount offers.
Winter Sale Leak
With that in mind, you might want to prepare soon as the next winter sale is bound to launch starting December 22, 2016. Or that's what a certain NeoGAF forums user called Tizoc had just announced.
A similar post with the same image had also been posted through a tweet by an account called lashman. If we check both the images, it contains the same info which are pretty accurate if we consider the date range of the recently concluded "Steam Autumn Sale 2016."
As Tizoc had said, better start selling your steam cards to save up.
Discounts
Most of us PC players have one thing in common, the anticipation of a Steam Sale. Great game titles however great they are, even if they are a AAA game, it's still bound to be discounted when we're talking about Steam sale (with some exception of course).
And PC Gamer via Matt Sayer had learned and shared when likely is your target game going to be discounted, and that is within an average of 7 months.
To sum up their research here's their conclusion:
For AAA games, expect to wait an average of 7 months before it gives a 50% discount. That is the time you need to wait for titles like The Witcher, Fallout, Doom, etc.
For popular indie games, it takes an average of 9 months to hit 50% discount. Rocket League, Undertale, and Stardew Valley fall in this category.
The lesser the popularity of a game is, the more likely that it will be discounted. According to PC Gamer, the least commercially-successful had dropped 60% faster than the best sellers.
What's more, those games with less than a $30 price range seem to be less consistent in giving discount compared to those with above the $30 price range. As PC Gamer said, this actually means we can be more confident that the next Call of Duty hitting $30 around 7 months after release than the next Stardew Valley having a 50% discount after 9 months.
Waiting for 7 to 9 months can be a bit of a drag though, so why not take this time to play those backlog games you have accumulated over the years of spending on those Steam sales and maybe earn yourself some Steam cards to sell before the next sale comes?
If you prefer to check actual data, you can head over to PC Gamer's actual post to see the numbers (complete with graphs) regarding the data they gathered.
With this information, you can save enough, prepare and speculate what games in your wishlist will most likely have 50% or even 75% discount off this coming Steam Winter Sale 2016. Stay tuned for further updates.
