Android 7.0 Update for Sony Xperia XZ Now Live; List of Other Xperia Phones To Receive Android N
Gio C.The Android N update for Xperia XZ has begun rolling out on some carriers, as part of Sony's plan to roll out the latest version of the Android system software to its mobile devices.
A discussion at XDA Developers confirms the rollout of Android N firmware for the Xperia XZ in some countries like Australia, Netherlands, Russia, Turkey and Latin America.
The update is reportedly rolling out in India, as well. The update file is 1GB in size, so users are advised to charge their devices and start the update via Wi-Fi. Sony is also doing staggered rollouts possibly to prevent overloading of their update servers, so users need not to worry if they do not see an update queued yet.
Apart from the recent Xperia XZ update, Sony have confirmed the following devices to feature an Android Nougat update:
The company mentioned that the availability timings for each device will vary per region. However, there are reports that users are already getting their own Android N upgrade for the Xperia X Performance smartphone.
A few weeks ago, it has been suggested that the X and X Compact should have gotten the Nougat update last month, the Z3+, Z4 and Z5 in December, and XA in early 2017. Although, there are no reports of the first two devices getting the update, so far.
Still, one of the most-loved features of Android 7.0 are its native split screen, improve Doze feature (in which, now seems to be better than Sony's own Stamina battery-saving feature), dynamic notifications, and other security and performance tweaks.
Kudos to Sony for delivering a quite fast update rollout, well ahead of its rivals. For the moment, users will have to wait for the update to roll out on other regions, and to its other Xperia devices.
Stay tuned for more news about the Sony Xperia Android Nougat update.
