'Pokemon Go' Latest News & Updates: How To Hatch The New Baby Pokemon; Evolutions, Required Distances, And More Revealed! [VIDEO]
Portia Mae M. CansancioNiantic's Pokemon Go just released their latest update in December 12. Although not all Pokemon from the second generation were included, the update still includes a few delightful and adorable baby Pokemon that were first seen in the 1999 Game Boy Color versions.
A total of seven second-generation Pokemon were added to the new update, instead of the rumored 100 Pokemon --- namely Igglybuff, Cleffa, Togepi, Pichu, Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby. These new baby Pokemon are pre-evolved forms of those already found or discovered and hatched from eggs, which are likely not found in the wild as compared to a normal Pokemon.
These Pokemon can also only be obtained by hatching eggs. However, eggs that were acquired before the new update was released will not be hatching any new baby Pokemon soon. Players must let the old eggs hatch first as well, before acquiring the second-generation eggs. In addition, the game itself chooses which Pokemon will be inside the eggs right after players pick them up at PokeStops, according to Heavy.
There are three types of eggs in Pokemon Go, each of which will require a player to walk a certain distance to hatch them. First are 2km eggs, which include Cleffa and Igglybuff. Players are required to have 25 candies to evolve Cleffa into Clefairy, as well as Igglybuff into Jigglypuff. Second are 5km eggs, which include Pichu and Togepi. Players need 25 candies to evolve Pichu into Pikachu and 50 candies for Togepi into Togetic. Third are 10km eggs, which include Elekid, Magby, and Smoochum. Players need 25 candies for each Pokemon evolution --- Elekid into Electabuzz, Magby into Magmar, and Smoochum into Jynx.
Moreover, players have also found out that even though the limited edition Christmas Pikachu with a Santa hat evolves into a Raichu, it still gets to retain the hat. Furthermore, there are only seven second-generation Pokemon that have been seen; thus, there is still a chance for players to catch or hatch the remaining ones.
