Patent Sharing Agreement With Google May Prevent Samsung From Introducing Viv
JPRecent blunders from Samsung caused the tech giant to fail in distancing itself from the rest of the smartphone field. Samsung uncharacteristically botched its chance to take the reins and lead the smartphone pack with the huge stumble it had due to the scandal of the exploding Note 7.
2016 seemed to be not so good a year for Samsung. The unfortunate fate of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 sent the South Korea based Tech Company searching for any and all innovation that would bring back its edge in the smartphone market. While Samsung is busy recalling its Galaxy Note 7s, the LG V20 creeped in and became a legitimate contender in the top smartphone market. The IPhone 7 maintained its solo reign as the best smartphone of 2016 thanks to the introduction of the Apple AirPods.
Samsung already corrected its mistake of pushing its hardware to the limit with the hope of achieving a more visually appealing mobile device in designing the Galaxy S8. However, Samsung views these changes as not enough to recover its former place atop the smartphone market. Samsung's search for new tech innovation led it to purchase the company responsible for the creation of Viv. A virtual personal assistant, Viv was the answer Samsung found to give the edge that its new Galaxy S8 needs to capture the top smartphone crown. However, the new gem that Samsung found may not find its way to the Galaxy S8 and other Samsung mobile devices.
Samsung and Google has an existing patent sharing deal which may serve as an obstacle for Samsung to introduce Viv in its mobile devices. Google has its own virtual assistant, this means that the company may prevent Samsung from introducing Viv to its Galaxy S8 and other Samsung mobile devices as it could directly compete with its own Google VA.
