Samsung is predominantly banking on the release of next year's Galaxy S8 as this will be their first major smartphone release after the battery-fueled Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. It is imperative for the Galaxy S8 to be free from any sort of lapse at the moment it is announced up to the moment it hits the store shelves.
Samsung usually unveil their annual flagship at the start of MWC (Mobile World Congress) in February; however, the South Korean company is likely to break the trend this year.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date, Specs & Features
The Samsung Galaxy S8 release date is allegedly set for April 2017, almost eight weeks after the Mobile World Congress event that will be held between February 27 to March 2, 2017. Previous reports have indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be unveiled at the MWC, but that will clearly not be the case, according to a report from Korean website Naver (via SamMobile).
Tech pundits believe that the delay is part of a well-thought-out strategy as this will not only give Samsung enough time to fully resolve the controversy-plagued Note 7's battery issue, but also allow Samsung's marketing teams to amend the company's rundown reputation.
Samsung has neither confirmed nor denied these speculations, courtesy of those participating in the global strategy meeting that the company is currently holding in South Korea. During the conference, Samsung's wireless division chief executive Koh Dong-Jin placed emphasis on the importance of security and minimizing the risk of leaks before releasing their future flagship.
However, the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone has already been subjected to quite a few leaks and rumors --- suggesting that it could come with a 4K display, a super sharp dual-lens camera, and a radically enhanced processors, YahooTech reported.
Some sources even go as far as claiming that the Galaxy S8 could oust the physical home button and build one right into the screen instead. Aside from that, the Samsung Galaxy S8 could also follow Apple's footstep and get rid of the headphone jack.
