BlackBerry Will Launch An Android 7.0 Nougat Smartphone With Physical QWERTY Keypad
Gloven RamosBlackBerry will launch a new smartphone device in partnership with TCL Communication. The new Blackberry handset is said to be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat, but with its signature physical QWERTY keypad.
The BlackBerry-TCT partnership will debut their new smartphone on this coming CES 2017. In a report, the TCT said that the CES presentation will include a first look at how the legacy of BlackBerry brand will live on in a new generation of smartphones.
Last September, the company announced they're quitting on mobile manufacturing and they will only focus on their software products. Now, with the help of TCT, they will again compete with Apple and Samsung on mobile products.
Recently in October, BlackBerry launched an Android smartphone, which was manufactured by TCL. Despite Blackberry's announcement, it looks like the company is still trying to maintain its place in the mobile manufacturing industry.
BGR reported that Steve Cistulli, President and General Manager for TCL Communication TCT in North America, said they will unveil more news on this upcoming CES 2017. Showcasing the legacy of the BlackBerry smartphone brand, they will also give a glimpse into the new smartphones as part of their bold new brand portfolio within TCT.
According to Go Android Apps report, the new BlackBerry will have a 2,560 x 1,4440 Quad HD display, 4 GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, and an Adreno 350 GPU. The new device, called BlackBerry Mercury, official announcement is promised to publish this coming CES event in January 2017.
The releasing of this still unnamed smartphone will not hit some countries in Asia. The partnership with TCL will not allow to sell the upcoming mobile devices in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Indonesia, some of BlackBerry's biggest handset markets.
