'For Honor' Gameplay Updates: ESRB Gives It 'Mature' Rating For Intense Violence & Gore
Van DA fortunate few were able to see the upcoming game, "For Honor," particularly the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). The group ultimately gave "For Honor" a "Mature" rating and provided some details about the action game.
According to the ESRB, "For Honor" garnered a "Mature" rating because of its gore, blood and violence. The board particularly cited that the melee fights are ridden with blood, with a number of cut scenes featuring severed heads.
The ESRB wrote that "For Honor" is an action game where players control one of three available factions, namely the Samurai, Knights and Vikings, in an extensive battle for dominance. Players are required to finish mission objectives, using a variety of weapons like swords, spears and axes to eliminate enemies via melee combat. Blood spatters whenever enemies are killed, with a number of locations showing massive bloodstains and impaled heads positioned on spikes.
In "For Honor," players can also execute finishing moves like impalements and decapitations, presented in close-up camera angles at times. Cut scenes feature more acts of violence, such as bound warriors decapitated by swords and some killed by having their heads struck with a weapon.
"For Honor" features a single player and two player co-op mode. Players can pick their factions, which can dominate and take over the entire world. Ubisoft stated that "For Honor" players will represent the greatest warriors of each faction and experience some of the epic moments that led to the war. They will need skills and wits to be victorious, while dealing with manipulation, betrayal and other unexpected turn of events.
BreatheCast stated that in the meantime, the closed beta of "For Honor" is due in January 2017. Players are required to have a UPlay account to sign up for the program. Ubisoft also introduced War of the Factions, which will allow "For Honor" beta players to carry over their previous achievements to the official game when it arrives. There may be a reward for the winning faction.
"For Honor" is set to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Feb. 14, 2017. More updates and details are expected soon.
