Microsoft Surface Phone Spotted Online In The Form Of Leaked Renders [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelWhile Microsoft continues to remain tight-lipped regarding the release date and other details about its highly anticipated smartphone dubbed as Microsoft Surface Phone, the device has made its way on the internet in the form of leaked photos.
The photos appeared on Weibo courtesy of acclaimed Chinese tech leaker, Xio Feng. The leaked photo shows a phablet-like white colored device with a round camera hump on the rear identical to the Lumia lineup, according to Nokia Power User.
Although this is not the first time photos of the alleged Microsoft phone have surfaced on the web, it is worth noting that these new renders bear Surface Phone branding. However, PhoneArena deems these pictures as fake as the camera of the device shows Carl Zeiss branding, which has not been used since 2013. That being said, there is a possibility that the device images could be of an earlier time, which also explains its strong resemblance to the Lumia lineup.
The Redmond-based tech giant has been testing a slew of prototypes of Surface Phone, which is likely to pack Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with Quick Charging 4.0 support. It will be running on Windows 10 Mobile (64-bit).
One of the prototypes of Microsoft Surface Phone is expected to come with a whopping 6GB of RAM, allowing the device to run apps via Continuum. The other prototype of the device is likely to arrive with 64-bit Windows 10 Mobile and 4GB of RAM; however, it will be unable to run X86 apps in Continuum. Microsoft may opt to roll out the aforementioned devices as consumer and enterprise editions of Surface Phone. Both the models will sport 5.5-inch quad HD screen.
There's word that Microsoft has collaborated with Pegatron as the ODM partner for the manufacturing of Surface Phone.
Mounting shreds of evidence also suggests that the trial production of Surface Phone is scheduled to start in near future. Microsoft's latest flagship phone is expected to hit the store shelves along with Redstone 3 update for Windows 10 Mobile in the later months of 2017.
