Apple Latest News: Massive Apple Campus 2 Construction Site Aerial Photo Unveiled [Watch]
Bee BA new and massive photo has just started making rounds online, featuring none other than the highly popular Apple Campus 2. Drones have been capturing videos and photos of the construction site but, so far, the latest image is one of the most detailed yet due to its enormous gigapixel sum.
The photo is posted on SkyIMD's official website and, according to the site, boasts of 1.7 gigapixels, taken with a bird's-eye shot. The camera system used for the photo was Phase One iXU RS1000. It is designed for aerial shots and provides a detailed look of every photo taken with the system.
The new Apple Campus 2 image is a merged version of about 380 photos taken using the Phase One iXU RS100, which is a 100-megapixel camera system. The multiple shots were taken on board a Cessna aircraft that hovered about 2,000 feet over the construction site.
Apple Insider notes that the composite image appears to be unedited. There are a couple of misaligned images and there are several noticeable visual artifacts on the mosaic. On the other hand, the outlet says that, overall, the massive Apple Campus 2 aerial photo is still an impressive sight to behold.
On SkyIMD's website, viewers can explore the photo's full resolution at a staggering 34,111 x 49,487 pixels. The image was released days after a new Apple Campus 2 footage taken by a drone camera was unleashed. The footage shows the main building, the secondary office spaces and the main building.
Meanwhile, Venture Beat says the Apple Campus 2 site is nearing the end of its first phase construction, with its roof almost completed. The landscaping project has also started and it may only be a matter of time before new photos emerge, featuring the landscaped areas.
The Apple Campus 2 site is located in Cupertino, California and it is considered one of the highly photographed construction spots around the world. The spaceship-like structure was expected to be finished by the third quarter of 2016 but it is now said to have been set with a completion date of 2017.
