Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Will Officially Be Updated To Android 7.1.1 Nougat On January
Jason GlennSamsung has confirmed that they will be deploying the Android 7.1.1 Nougat for their flagship devices on January, specifically the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The company employed a Galaxy Beta Program for select users last November.
"We would do our best to distribute the official version in January soon as possible," said Samsung in their latest message for those currently in the Galaxy Beta Program which was acquired by SamMobile. The message also said that the program will end on December 30 at 24:00 which means that Samsung will close its doors in accepting feedback on the suggestion and error report sections while they keep an eye on the community section.
9to5 Google reported that earlier this month that Samsung has confirmed that they will go straight away to the Android 7.1.1 skipping the 7.0 version for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices. The update will feature new designs for emoji, Google's new GIF keyboard including the "launcher shortcuts" which will give a "3D-Touch-esque features" to the home screen.
The Galaxy Beta Program was released by Samsung in the U.S. wherein the selected users of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge get a chance to experience the software ahead of everyone else. According to Android Authority, the program was then in the U.K. Galaxy stores and the servers that supported the system were not online during that time afterward it was released in the U.S., U.K. and Korea.
The level of popularity of the Galaxy Beta Program means that there will be a lot of pre-release bugs which hopefully has been discovered by the testers by now. This also means that it will be fixed right before it will be officially released. Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 5 as well as the Galaxy A series are also expected to get updated to Android Nougat.
