Updates & Enhancements for 'Street Fighter V' are Not Going to be 'Super,' Capcom Says
Regin OlimberioPoint blank confirmation: Capcom have no interest in making a Super version of "Street Fighter V." While previous iterations of Street Fighter franchise have their upgraded enhanced and final "Super" versions, the current "Street Fighter V" isn't going to have one.
Make no mistake about it, EventHubs report points to Capcom's decision to simply develop on "Street Fighter V" as is. Meaning, all improvements and enhancements will boil down continually without necessarily rebranding "Street Fighter V." This Capcom game lives on ethos that it is a service and not a one-hit wonder that is going to be replaced soon with "Super."
Capcom executive Matt Dahlgren said that they are in current stage of checking how fans are thriving in "Street Fighter V." By then, innovations and changes will be introduced on staggered basis. Yes, Capcom eyes on profitable post-release content without dismantling the service-based platform model.
To pull this off, "Street Fighter V" will have to drop the price of starter game. It seems that the developer is also taking the tune of free updates and adjustments. Paid content will only come to customization and bling that doesn't necessarily affect the whole gameplay, Dahlgren added.
Here is the catch about "Street Fighter V" and the scrapped "Super" version though; critics are wary about the timeframe. It is given that starter game is a one-time investment, yet additional contents to make the game feel a "full version" is taking too long anyway. In fact, there are no fight against AI mode, arcade mode, combo trials and the roster of characters is very limited.
Comicbook WWG called "Street Fighter V" anemic in its initial state - the one that comes on release. The same article even thought of Capcom trying to hoard the gamers towards a paid DLC sometime in the future. Having assessed so, critics feel that "Super Street Fighter V" that sports a full game replete with characters, modes and costumes is still the lucrative path for Capcom.
