Jomst C.January is a favourite month for book enthusiasts for one reason; it's a good time to take a look at the past year and look forward to what's coming, about books. Let's take a look at what's ahead for us in January. 16 book releases have been scheduled for January, a full month of reading extravaganza. Clear your shelves and make room for the following books.
"Defiant"

The third part of the author's "Lightship Chronicles", follows "Impulse" and "Starbound". The book picks up the tale of Mr and Mrs Peter Cochrane on their journey for diplomacy. A great space saga in the genre of classics, such as Clarke and Heinlein.
"Boss Fight: Heartache; Thicker Than Blood; Magic to the Bone"
by Annie Bellet
A volume containing three novels; "Heartache", "Thicker than Blood", and "Magic to the Bone", is the second collection of novels in the author's 20-sided sorcery series. The geeky sorceress, Jade Crow, has levelled up and ready again to face his ex-boyfriend.
"The Heart of What Was Lost: A Novel of Osten Ard"

The author's new short novel, "The Heart of What Was Lost", is set in the world of Osten Ard. After the Stormking Ineluki was defeated and the Norn, his loyal followers, were pursued far North, Two remaining soldiers battles with their commitment to their loyalty, while one of the Norn finds disturbing secrets about his people.

When the Jenna dies prematurely, it turned out that she's owed some more time, and uses it to help at a suicide helpline. There, she discovers that something is binding her fellow ghosts to mirrors and forcing them to do evil things, and she has to stop it.
"Galactic Empires"
by Neil Clarke
Spaces sagas are always fun to read, and this new novel will be loaded with intergalactic battles and space politics. The author is the editor of Clarkesworld Magazine, one of the best short-fiction magazine online.
"The Fortress at the End of Time"
by Joe M. McDermott
A terrible crime was committed by a military officer that led to his posting in the farthest region of the galaxy. The remote listening station, The Citadel, is where he has to come terms with his past life, so he could escape.
"Empire Games"
by Charles Stross
The book is the beginning of a new trilogy and it is set in 2020. Set in an alternate world where the US has fallen into a security state after the death of the president while a separate government grew rapidly, and both will quickly collide.
"Martians Abroad"
by Carrie Vaughn
Polly Newton wants to be a starship pilot badly, only to have that dream thwarted when she was sent to Earth to study. While on Earth, Polly's classmates began to suffer from a series of dangerous events. Along with her twin brother, they start to investigate to get to the bottom of it.
"Passing Strange"
by Ellen Klages
In the 1940's, six women find their fates intertwined in the magical cities of San Francisco. The author was awarded last 2005 with the Nebula Award for "Basement Magic" and in 2013 Hugo Award for her "Wakulla Springs" (with Andy Duncan)
"The Prometheus Man"

"Bookburners"

The series follows a team of agents who hunts down dangerous, magical books. A serialised fiction created in a similar fashion to TV shows.
"Six Wakes"
by Mur Lafferty
The crew of a spaceship wakes up only to discovered that they're all been killed. The resurrected clones will need to work to find out who is the murderer. They must do it quickly before the killer strikes again.
"Binti: Home"
by Nnedi Okorafor
The award-winning author releases a sequel that follows the story of Binti and her friend Okwu. Two races have forged a treaty because of the pair, and now they're headed home. Binti will be coming home to her family, while Okwu, will be the first "Meduse" to come to Earth after 100 years.
