Facebook, Google and YouTube are undoubtedly one of the list as TechCrunch said. However, for those who are curious about which smartphone apps are the most popular in 2016, here is the list of apps according to their average unique users.
Facebook and Facebook Messenger
These Facebooks app is obviously the most used app as to date. Out of Billions of Facebook accounts, Millions of them browsing their accounts using the smartphone app.
YouTube
Millions of daily viewers visit the YouTube site, to view different videos of course. Because of this current technology where internet connections are readily available, YouTube smartphone apps become popular with the smartphone users who are love watching their favorite videos on the site.
Google Maps, Google Search, Google Play and Gmail ranked on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th place on the list respectively. These Google smartphone apps are used for different purposes, each one an integral part of the Google software environment. Apps like these let users search for things, download games and apps, send email, and get directions to a location.
Instagram hits on the 8th place with the 74 Million of average unique users. Taking photos and pictures are on trend now, and Instagram smartphone app is one of the easiest and portable ways to share your photos.
Apple Music
Made to the top as one of the current most popular music-streaming services in smartphone apps. It has 68 Million average unique users based on the Nielsen survey.
Amazon Apps
Smartphone app makes it easy to buy things on a whim, landing on your doorstep a mere 48 hours later. According to Daily Dot report, it's posted six straight profitable quarters and had an excellent year.
These data and results are based on the US survey conducted by Nielsen. The results may change depends on the specific area or country.
