Vivo will be launching the V5 Plus on at a special event in India. The company has already sent press invites for the upcoming launch on January 23.

Details for Vivo's new phone has been scarce, but according to GSMArena's verified source, the V5 Plus will be sporting dual front-facing cameras. Lenovo's Vibe S1 was the first phone to sport such features.

The dual front-facing cameras have a 20MP + 8MP combo to take high definition selfies. The Vivo V5 Plus cameras will be accompanied by the company's "Moonlight Glow" flash.

The 20MP camera will have Sony's IMX376 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The V5 Plus will also have a 5.5-inch display that has a 1080p resolution.

The phone will run on a Snapdragon 652 chipset that has a 1.8GHz octa-core CPU and 4GB of RAM. The V5 Plus internal storage is expected to have at least 64GB. The phone will also have a decent 3,300mAh battery.

So far, that's the only available information and we'll expect more from the phone's upcoming launch on January 23. In the invites, Vivo clearly indicated the V5 Plus' selling point will be centered around the front facing dual cameras.

Following the Vivo V5's launch in November 2016r, consumers have had high praise for the smartphone brand. A recent comparison even puts the Vivo's phone on par with Apple's iPhone 7.

The new variant of the Vivo V5 smartphone is endorsed by NBA superstar Steph Curry. The company hopes that it can generate enough hype for the V5 Plus.

The market for dual camera smartphones has not picked up on today's consumers. Samsung and Apple have created smartphones that have great camera quality without the need of dual cameras.

Vivo is hopeful that the new V5 Plus will be able to attract a new customer base from the younger generation. Stay tuned for more updates.
