CES 2017: HP Spectre x360 2017 Unmasked; Large Battery Added Weight? See Upgrades, Configuration Details Inside
Keisha WallaceHP unveiled a revamped 15-inch Spectre x360 at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. Interestingly, the Palo Alto-based multinational company upgraded the laptop with the new Intel Kaby Lake processor and Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics card. Additionally, the new HP Spectre x360 2017 packs a larger battery, making it heavier than its predecessor.
Apart from its Nvidia graphics card and its Core i7-7500U processor, HP Spectre x360 2017 also runs in a 16GB DDR4 SDRAM with 256GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. It sports a 2GB GDDR5 memory but the higher-end specs may compromise its battery life. That said, HP embedded a bigger 79-watt hour battery compared to the 2016's model, which came with 63-watt hour battery.
The new battery is said to be 23 percent larger than the previous one. However, PC World pointed out that given the high configurations applied in the new HP laptop, it would still have a shorter battery life even after embedding the 79-watt hour battery. Furthermore, the said battery added more weight to the device and it's now heavier than other competitor brands with almost similar specifications.
Meanwhile, HP made it clear that the changes they implemented on the laptop are based on the preferences of its users. Apart from changing the battery, HP Spectre x360 2017 ditched a full HD screen in place of a 4K UHD resolution. Also, the glass trackpad gets a wider space, giving users more room as they browse their screens, CNET reported.
HP Spectre x360 is popular for its convertible design that allows users to rotate it in 360 degrees. The feature lets consumers turn in into a portable traditional laptop, switch it to tablet form or transform it into a frame. For these reasons, the device reportedly received positive reviews in the past year though it remains to be seen whether the 2017 model will get the same feedbacks from users.
The new laptop from HP is expected to be available come Feb. 26 and will sell at a starting price of $1,280. Are you excited to buy your own HP Spectre x360 2017? Let us know your thoughts by dropping a comment below.
