Linksys Gaming Router Comes With Built-in Killer Mode
Nicole T.Online games require a good Internet speed to avoid any lags. Players would, of course, find a way to get the best speed they can have for the best experience, may it via finding a better network provider or a good router. For the latter, it seems like Linksys has turned its attention to online gamers.
Over the years, Linksys developed routers for home use as they went back to making general home routers. However, recently, the company has taken a step further and entered the gaming world.
The Linksys WRT32X MU-MIMO Gigabit has just been released in Las Vegas. It caters mostly to gamers, as the WRT32X features a Killer mode. The Killer line of networking products was created by Rivet Networks. According to The Verge, these products are often found on high-end gaming tools and are used to maximize the speed of the internet and prioritize internet traffic toward the games.
The Killer Mode in Linksys WRT32X automatically detects any computer that has a Killer network. It then connects the network to the Killer Network Manager on the PC of the gamer. CNET noted that this does not only give the PC the best gaming experience; the entire network hosted by the router is expected to have the best internet gaming speed possible.
Of course, Linksys' new router isn't just for games. The company claims that it can also help make other online activities smoother, such as downloading and streaming.
Apart from the Killer Mode, WRT32X also features a powerful hardware. It's an AC3200 router with 1.8GHz dual-core processor. It also comes with 3,200 megabits/second of WiFi bandwidth and supports MU-MIMO and dynamic frequency selection (DFS).
The Linksys router will soon be available in the US by spring. It is reported to cost $300.
