Laptop News: HP Spectre X360 Slightly Thicker FOr Additonal Battery Life
Jomst C.HP has unveiled a new version of its 15.6-inch Spectre x360 at the CES 2017 event. The new version is slightly thicker because of the bigger battery that gives additional 3 hours of battery life.
The two Spectre x360 versions differ in terms of thickness. The old version is around 15.9mm in thickness, while the new Spectre x360 is 17.8mm thick. The increase in the thickness has given some extra space for a larger battery which is almost 23 percent bigger in size.
Sadly, the projected three-hour additional battery life is not meant to make it everlasting, it was just meant to normalise the battery life. Notably, the company will only be selling the 15.6-inch x360 with a 4K display this year that requires more power.
HP was able to extend the laptop's battery life to 12 hours and 45 minutes for the 4K version from 9.5 hours. But it only means that they are trying to match the battery life of the previous version of the laptop that runs on 1080p.
The newest version will also be updated with Intel's Kaby Lake processors. Some of the other specs include an i7 processor, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 940MXgraphics and a 1TB SSD. The projected release date is Feb. 26, 2017. The laptop will cost $1278 for the basic model.
The smaller 13-inch model is not getting any major updates but is still getting a refresh. It will also have Kaby Lake processors, and 4K display options as well. In addition, HP is also introducing an x360 version of the skinny EliteBook that was announced at last year's CES.
All models will live to the x360 name with the ability to flip 360-degrees. The EliteBook though is targeted for businesses still, with options for an anti-spying screen and a security card reader.
