Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8 Edge/Plus News: 10 Million Units Ready To Ship In April 2017
Athena DeeSamsung is reportedly preparing for a mass production of its upcoming smartphone flagship. When the Galaxy Note 7 was launched last year, a couple of its color variants were so high in demand that stores ran out of stock.
It has been previously reported that the Blue Coral and Silver variants of the Galaxy Note 7 sold like hotcakes. Consumers who were looking forward to getting the aforementioned colors had to wait for up to three to four weeks.
"We have experienced an unprecedented number of pre-orders," the company's statement read. "We will work with our valued carrier and retail partners to provide wide-reaching national retail availability."
To prevent such incident from happening again, Samsung is going to start a mass production for the Galaxy S8 series. A source told etnews, a Korean news agency, that he Korea-based tech company will begin mass producing the smartphone in March in order to have 10 million units ready to ship in April. "We received an order from Samsung Electronics to start delivering components for Galaxy S8 starting from February," the source confirmed.
This is not the first time for Samsung to mass produce a certain model of its devices. The company also shattered sales records when it got to sell 10 million units in the first month that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge were launched.
The upcoming Galaxy S8 series is expected to feature the same Y-OCTA display technology that made its debut on the Galaxy Note 7. According to multiple news outlets, the smartphone will drop hardware navigation keys and implement screen buttons much like 3D Touch. This new feature will accommodate the device's bezel-less curved edge.
The series is expected to come equipped with either the Exynos 8895 or the Snapdragon 835 processor - depending on where the device is going to be purchased. In addition to that chipset, it will reportedly also feature a USB Type-C port, S Pen, and Harman stereo speakers.
