Leaked HTC Ocean Promo Clip Not Related To HTC Big Launch Event On January 12
Arianne GiftPopular leakster Evan Blass sent Twitter into a frenzy last week upon revealing the promotional video for the so called HTC Ocean. His timing could not be more perfect, considering HTC's next big product launch is just a few days away. However, HTC junkies may have to calm down a little bit, as Blass has just confirmed that the featured smartphone in the promo clip is not related to the Ocean Note expected to be announced on January 12.
In the video, a couple is shown using a smartphone that appears to be launching apps using the side of the handset. Some of Blass' followers quickly noted of the functionality, saying the edge of the screen finally has a purpose.
According to Phone Arena, the yet to be announced HTC Ocean's new scrolling functionality is more than just a marketing stunt. While users can scroll through various apps using the edges, they can also use the side of the screen to launch any application just by tapping it.
Fans of HTC have been hoping that the featured smartphone in the video clip will be officially unveiled on HTC's Jan. 12 event. The Taiwanese company is expected to launch three different models under the Ocean brand: the Ocean Master, Ocean Smart and Ocean Note. Although the video does not tell what model is being featured, we can rule out the note, according to Blass on Twitter.
Let's be clear, here. The Ocean imagined in this and a previous video is absolutely not related to the Ocean Note that HTC is launching.

It is still unclear for now if the HTC Ocean will be launched under a different name. Previously mentioned on CNET are the HTC U Ultra and the HTC U Play, which may or may not be the new names for the company's new smartphones, which may have HTC's new UI. There are still a lot of questions hanging regarding HTC's new range of products, including the HTC One X10 slated to be announced in Q1 2017. Check out the video below.
