Rundown Of Everything Known So Far About Hideo Kojima's 'Death Stranding'
Nicole T.Hideo Kojima may have left Konami, but fans are still going to see more from him. Setting up his own company, Kojima Productions, the artist is out to bring his fans a great offering. Kojima and his development team are now working with Guerilla Games to bring to the gaming world "Death Stranding."
As of writing, there are not many details about the game. Sure, the world has seen a couple of trailers, but those only sparked more questions than actually getting answers. For now, here is a summary of what the industry knows about "Death Stranding."
First off, "Death Stranding" will star Norman Reedus. Reedus has risen to fame for his role as Daryl Dixon on hit TV show "The Walking Dead." Fans may have known his character as a bad-ass zombie slaying guy. But the first teaser of the game showed a more vulnerable Reedus. What's more is that the actor is in his birthday suit, which is something new to fans.
Apart from Reedus, "Death Stranding" will also star Mads Mikkelsen. The actor was featured in the second trailer and will likely play the main antagonist. Kojima himself has revealed previously that he is a fan of the actor, who appeared in the hit series "Hannibal." Famed director Guillermo del Toro will also be in the game. As for the setting, according to these teasers, it seemed like mankind has been struck by a cataclysmic event or maybe a manmade disaster. Where it takes place and when is still unknown.
Even the gameplay for "Death Stranding" has remained a mystery. However, according to Releases, Hideo Kojima let a little information out during a pre-Tokyo Game Show stream. The developer said it would be an open world environment. Players have apparently a "degree of freedom."
As for the platforms, the game will be released on Sony's PlayStation 4. PS 4 Pro may also be a likely platform but no announcements have been made yet. As far as fans know, PS4 is the only platform for "Death Stranding."
The release date is also yet to be confirmed; but it is said that "Death Stranding" will come before the Tokyo Olympics. Fans are thinking a 2018 release is more likely. WWG said that Hideo Kojima admitted he is glad to announce the existence of "Death Stranding," especially after a rough 2016.
