'Deadpool 2' Latest News: No X-Men Crossover Happening; Cable & Domino Reportedly In The Storyline
Keisuke AkioAfter news of changing its director, "Deadpool 2" is back on track. Here are the things that you should know about the sequel.
The second story will most likely focus on a Cable and "Deadpool" team-up in some form. Rhett Reese, one of the writers, was quoted saying that if Cable and Deadpool team up, it will likely happen in "Deadpool's" world. He added that he does not think that we will be seeing both characters on a far-flung planet 300 years from now.
However, one thing that is certain about the sequel is that it will probably not include a full-blown X-Men crossover. Rhett Reese stressed that the X-Men movies are presently trapped in the 1980s, while "Deadpool" is set in the present day. To date, there is no official statement on who has been selected to play Cable.
Cable is a character that is not going to be away from the "Deadpool" universe for much longer, Rhett Reese told DenofGeek in an interview. He is a character everybody loves, whether he is in the sequel or is in an X-Force event still remains to be seen, he added. Recently, "The Expendables" star Dolph Lundgren told the folks at Nerdist that he would be interested to play Cable. A netizen who saw the video agreed so much on Lundgren's ability to portray the character that he even made a poster.
Meanwhile, another main piece of Deadpool's early history might fall into place in the form of Domino. Collider reports that there is a casting shortlist taking shape for this role. The names that have reportedly surfaced include Lizzy Caplan, Stephanie Sigman, Sienna Miller, Sofia Boutella, Mary Elizabeth Winsteadand Sylvia Hoeks. These are all brilliant actresses, but Winstead and Boutella both jump out as being particularly suitable for Domino.
