Two of the most powerful smartphones - Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X - are grabbing the spotlight in the smartphone market now. These giants are fully loaded with an array of features that makes them a choice of many.
Both the smartphones are the flagship models of their respective manufactures and are designed with utmost perfection. Call it a clash of Titans. Let's see how big this gets.
Design
Samsung Galaxy S3 is fabricated with plastic and has been blessed with a feather-like light structure and weight. It comes with a sleek design and smooth rounded curves. HTC One X on the other hand is built from a polycarbonate plastic imparting it an amazing grip and an all-white chassis. Galaxy S3 boasts one of the biggest Android screens with 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display; HTC One X on the other hand packs a 4.7 inch capacitive LCD touch-screen. Both have the same resolution of 1280x720 pixels. Despite the sleek and well trimmed look, Samsung fails to charm many with its pure plastic structure.
Operating System
Albeit both the devices run on Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, and the UI of both are different noticeably. Galaxy S3 comes with TouchWiz UI whereas HTC One X comes with HTC Sense UI.
Performance
Both the smartphones are powerhouse performers since these are packed with the powerful quad-core processors. There is however a slight difference since One X comprises 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM, while Galaxy S3 is equipped with 1.4 GHz quad core chip and 1 GB RAM. This to a certain extent makes Galaxy S3 technically slower when it comes to running programs, but the difference is not noticeable.
Other Aspects
Talking about the battery, the HTC One X packs an 1800 mAh battery optimum for everyday use, while Galaxy S3 comes with a big 2100 mAh battery. The Galaxy S3's giant 2100 mAh steals the show here.
When it comes to camera, both Galaxy S3 and One X stand equal with a rear-facing 8 MP camera that is capable of shooting 720 p and 1080 p videos . S3 however, gains a point for the front facing 1.9 MP cameras, which in case of HTC is merely 1.3 MP.
In terms of storage, S3 and One X are the same with up to 32 GB storage options but S3 offers an additional cookie in terms of external SD storage. Galaxy S3 is also expected to come out with 64 GB storage option. On the other hand, HTC has also cracked a deal with Dropbox for 25 GB of cloud storage, post 2 years of activation.
The Verdict
Giving a final take on both the masterpieces isn't that easy. The software of Galaxy S3 brings in a great deal of improvements, such as S Voice, Smart Stay, and Pop Up Play, though they feel mostly evolutionary with only a few major breaks from what we have already seen in S2 after it got ICS. The Galaxy S3 is amazingly fast and stands out. On the other hand, One X is also an excellent device, barring a couple of downsides, which can be wished away. Both deliver what they promise and are, hence, highly recommended.
