"Bones" is one of the longest running shows on TV, but all good things come to an end. And in this case, the decision was not only made by the bosses, the actors agreed to it as well. On Wednesday, the showrunners gave their insights on the series finale of the said show during the Television Critic Association press tour panel. Hart Hanson, the creator of the show said that they want an explosive finale and the network gave the final call that the show will be ending after a 12-year run.

While it was not their decision at all, Hanson shared that the finale of the series was coming. The network called and told them it would be their last year. They said: "We would like to finish the series." Still, the show's creator is not disappointed considering how long the series ran. In his revelations, he even said he is not surprised that it is coming to an end. Emily Deschanel, one of "Bones" lead characters also relayed: "We really had a good run. It would be an ungrateful move to battle the cancellation after twelve long seasons."

As revealed by the show's cast, the final season of the series will just have twelve episodes but they promise to give it their best as it will be "packed with moments and returning cast" enough to fill a 22-episode line-up according to David Boreanaz. In his statement, he said that it could have been more than twelve packed episodes. It is expected that the 447 mystery will be solved - one that veers away from the original vision of the creator, Hanson.

The series finale took a different track, however, but Hanson said: "I have a different ending in mind but I love what they did and I am in full support of it." There are still no talks on a possible revival of the show but executive producer Michael Peterson are not closing their doors yet. What is known is that the two lead stars cannot commit just yet.

David Boreanaz, one of the show's leads said that he does not like going backward and wants to move forward after the finale. Deschanel, however, thought she needs some time as well before she plays Brennan again as it would be weird to return after one sudden, emotional ending to the series. Watch this epic recap before the series finale kicks off this year:
