Nintendo Switch, NES Classic Stock Update: GameStop Trade-in Bonus Pre Order, CEO Speaks Up
Rommel"Nintendo NES Classic" shortages have been the discussion in the gaming industry recently and Reggie Fils-Aime, American Nintendo president covered all the topics relating to its plans for the vintage edition, as well as the Switch launch in March with regarding the stock of their products. It can be remembered that the NES Classic supply has been very scarce lately with the gaming system sold out wherever you look for it, following after its launch last November 2016.
According to Fils-Aime, "Nintendo NES Classic" shortage is just a simple problem - demand outpaced supply, he said: "We intended for the gaming system for the adults - 30-40 years old who grew up playing Nintendo Classic as a kid when they were just 10 years old or so - those who stepped away from gaming, but it seems like that was not the case for the NES Classic."
In his GameSpot interview, he said that a certain level of supply was allocated for the gaming system, however, the lapsed gamers and the more active gamers bought the vintage edition which leads to a really high demand they were not able to anticipate, thus the supply issue. The CEO admitted it was a plain market disconnect adding that they are still making the NES Classic systems to be available.
While he also said it was already addressed, the console is basically sold out everywhere, still. Because of this, many gamers worry about "Nintendo Switch" supply and he reiterated that they will have 2 million units ready globally for their March launch. The executive even stressed that is a terrible amount of stock since it was not launched in a holiday month, like December.
The Nintendo CEO said: "We are working hard to ascertain that the supply for Nintendo Switch is steady so that there is a stable flow of hardware. Sometimes, we have a target set for demand and we do not entirely get the right amount of predicted demand. We feel like we are in a good position with the supply for Switch."
In other news, Gamestop is offering at least $75 additional store credit for trade-ins for the upcoming "Nintendo Switch" sale. Gamers can bring their old gaming console - Nintendo Wii, PlayStation VR, and others and switch it with a Switch. Extra bonus for their PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro members will be given upon trading the gaming systems.
"Nintendo Switch" trade-in for Wii U, Xbox One, PS4 and PS VR will most likely get a $50 store credit while a Nintendo Wii or a Nintendo 3DS can get a player extra $20 for a trade-in. This is for the standard members. For the PowerUp Rewards Pro members, $75 store credit will be given for current generation consoles and $30 for the Wii or 3DS.
Available for free, the PowerUp Rewards memberships enable gamers rewards but, to enjoy Pro tier rewards, players need to pay an annual membership fee of $15. Here are some more details about "Nintendo Switch" preorder in GameStop:
