'Titanfall: Frontline' iOS & Android Version Cancelled; Particle City Will Take Down Game Server on Friday
Regin OlimberioThe "Titanfall: Frontline" mobile version was cancelled and developers are justifying that they decided to do so with an intent to make the game refined. Developer Particle City said that they are not really happy with the mobile iteration, to the dismay of iOS and Android players.
Of course, the decision to scrap the "Titanfall: Frontline" mobile version doesn't have anything to do with its successful PC and console sister "Titanfall 2." In fact, the latter is enjoying better reception since release. Its popularity catapulted higher after it introduced several refinements and single-player gameplay.
The development team posted in the official Facebook account that "Titanfall: Frontline" is not ready to replicate the intense action that the "Titanfall" series offers. Particle City also stressed that there is only pass and fail grading system for the "Titanfall: Frontline" mobile version and the adaptation unfortunately flunked.
To recall, the "Titanfall: Frontline" mobile version has already gone through closed beta-testing for iOS and Android. However, the developer also stressed that they will take down the game server starting on Friday, January 20, as a result of the decision to cancel. Then again, with the reiteration that "Titanfall: Frontline" mobile version didn't live up to expectations, DualShockers said.
Meanwhile, Particle City said that the "Titanfall: Frontline" mobile version is not a total waste. The recently concluded beta test gave them a lot of insights and lessons that could be deployed in future Titanfall mobile games. The statement also suggests that there will be further adaptation, only that it is never going to happen soon.
As a conclusion, it is unclear whether Particle City received a lot of pressure during the development stage of "Titanfall: Frontline." Considering the success of "Titanfall 2," it is indeed a hard-to-replicate achievement since the game received a high score of 9.0 in Metacritics. The said aggregate score was sustained since Titanfall's multi-platform release on PlayStation, Xbox One and PC.
