NVidia Shield TV 2: The Newly Updated Set-Top Box With 4K+HDR Support Is Now Available for Orders at $199 Price Point
Cores Grace MalaayAt CES 2017 in Las Vegas, NVidia announced its updated 4K + HDR-capable Shield TV 2 with Google Assistant and now, it has been made available for orders. However, its add-on accessory the NVidia Spot, which can stretch the range of the new Shield TV's Assistant capabilities, is not available just yet.
The NVidia Shield TV is one of the best streaming boxes especially for people who like using Plex, which is a client-server media player system and software suite allowing users to transcode media just like Macs, PC and other NAS drives. According to Redmond Pie, when it was announced at CES earlier this month, NVidia didn't seem to introduce the whole thing of the newly updated Shield TV that it doesn't sound be to awesome although it really is.
The NVidia Shield TV is at $199 price point and apparently not the cheapest streaming box but it's obviously one of the top-of-the-line set top boxes, which aims to offer the best gaming experience on huge TV displays possible for PC gamers. It has a support for 4K + HDR video and a capability to take 4K videos from PCs on the network and then connect it to a TV with huge display.
Powered by Android TV, the newly updated NVidia Shield TV also features Google Assistant and a redesigned game controller where users are able to talk to the Shield TV same as the Apple TV with additional accessory, the NVidia Spot. It's a device that can be plugged to the wall and used to extend the Shield's Assistant capabilities anywhere in your house.
Additionally, NVidia has also announced that the update for the current NVidia Shield TV (2015) devices will be rolled out possibly by next week or later, according to Droid Life. Once the update is rolled out, it might take a few days to hit the system. Be patient.
