Nintendo Switch: What We Know So Far
JulianneSince its big reveal last year, the Nintendo Switch has been in the headlines for months. Rumors and Speculations online have surrounded the gaming console and now, the wait is finally here.
With Nintendo announcing the official release date, it seems that gamers are weeks away in getting the hybrid console. However, there is still so much consumers don't know about it. And to summarize everything up, here is a summary of every information that's revealed so far.
The Nintendo gaming console is a handheld device with detachable controls with multiple gaming probabilities. The console is considered a hybrid between gaming consoles and handheld gaming.
The core that puts the Switch together is the 6.2-inch 720p tablet computer. Two separate detachable controllers (Joy-Cons) in each side to play games in handheld mode. The Switch can also function as a home console via built-in stand, doubling as a portable TV of sorts.
The Joy-Cons are a bit understated but the detachable controllers have hidden secrets. When a user detaches the Joy-Cons, the controllers can be slot into a dock to form a stand-alone controller. The Joy-Cons can also be held horizontally to form a pair of NES controllers.
The Joy-Cons has an advanced accelerometer that gives the controllers Wii-like sensitive controls. Both controllers features HD rumble abilities that provide nuanced vibrational feedback. The right Joy-Cons has an IR Motion camera that can detect sense depth and shapes.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch tablet computer features a touchscreen display. This is a first ever for Nintendo to apply to any of the company's device. While, both touch devices like 3DS and Wii-U have used a resistive display.
Nintendo didn't specify how powerful Nintendo Switch would be but reports state that the hybrid gaming console is powered by a variation of NVIDIA's Tegra X1 chip. The said chip is the mobile SoC that powers Google Pixel C tablet and NVIDIA's Shield Android TV.
Launch titles for the Nintendo Switch includes "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild", "1-2 Switch", "Just Dance 2017", "Super Bomberman R" and more.
