Ed Sheeran News: Secret Behind The 'Thinking Out Loud' Singer's Weight Loss Revealed
Megha KediaGrammy award-winning popstar Ed Sheeran took almost a year off from music to explore the world and experience different cultures. It was during the gap year that Sheeran gained a lot of weight.
"I doubled in size," the singer said in an interview with BBC Radio 1 The Breakfast Club. "Sweatpants were the only things that fit and I thought everything had shrunk in the wash, but it hadn't."
During the interview, the 25-year-old popstar revealed that he hadn't realized that he put on a lot of weight when he wasn't performing.
"I didn't realize how much I burned on stage," the "Thinking Out Loud" singer added, reported Inquisitr. " I stopped touring and I just ballooned instantly."
To get back in shape, Sheeran decided to eliminate one thing from his diet which was beer. Surprisingly, quitting beer and exercising regularly helped the pop star loose almost 50 pounds.
"It was the beer. Well, I'm back on beer now, because I'm fine, but I cut out beer for a bit and started exercising which was quite weird," Ed Shheran said.
Last year, Sheeran won a number of awards including two Grammys for his hit song "Thinking Out Loud." Notably, Ed Sheeran's new 2017 studio album called "÷" (pronounced "Divide") will be released on March 3 on Atlantic. The album will include his two recent singles - "Castle on the Hill" and "Shape of You."
