Microsoft's Xbox Scorpio Will Be The Most Powerful Game Console When It Gets Released Late This Year
Ceage SottoMicrosoft's Xbox One S is just a teaser for the company's plan of console domination for 2017. The company has been teasing game enthusiast with Project Scorpio since 2016. Accordingly, this might be the most powerful game console ever built.
Better & More Powerful Than Sony's PS4 Pro
According to "Halo" boss Frank O'Connor, the game console might be beefier than early expectations. The Xbox Scorpio leaks and rumors all suggest that Microsoft's next console is a beast.
Project Scorpio will probably have an 8-core CPU from an unknown manufacturer. The upcoming console might have a GPU with 6TFLOPs (trillion floating point operations per second). It will also have 320GB/sec of memory bandwidth. The specs far outgun Sony's PS4 Pro. In comparison, Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1070 has 6.5TFLOPs of performance.
Xbox Scorpio Will End Microsoft's Console Lifecycle
Microsoft's next gaming console might be taking frame per second and graphical fidelity to a new level. O'Connor's comment with regards to the Project Scorpio's beefier performance also suggests the end of console generations.
In a previous post by Engadget, Aaron Greenberg said that the Xbox Scorpio marks the end of traditional console lifecycles for Microsoft. It's likely that future will bring an end by embracing continuity, instead of opting for new consoles.
Microsoft is banking on the continuity platform for game consoles. If this would likely be successful, Sony and Nintendo might have to follow the blueprint.
The Xbox Scorpio might be out in November or December this year. Microsoft has been vague about its release date, the company's official website indicates that it will be out on holiday 2017.
There also has been news about Project Scorpio being a VR-capable console. However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that he's not yet sure about VR being a hit for game consoles. Stay tuned for more updates.
